MASTELO®
SMOKED COW MILK MASTELO
Perhaps the most famous cheese from Chios, produced from rich cow milk, and smoked acquiring a distinctive aroma. Smoked cow milk Mastelo, has 29% fat, 46% moisture and 1.6% salt, is available in truckles of 380 grams, packed in vacuum. It can be kept in the fridge for 2½ months. Its main feature is that it can be cooked without melting, and that is why it has become extremely popular as saganaki, grilled, but also in salads. Mastelo® is the brand name of the cheese (first made in 1994 by K. Toumazos in Chios) and not its type.
